Medical knowledge of diseases of the liver has grown exponentially over the last ten years and optimal care requires the specialized advanced training that the Hepatologists at our EPGI Liver Center have and can provide to patients in Lehigh, Northampton and Monroe Counties.  Our board-certified Transplant Hepatologists have expertise in the diagnosis and management of all aspects of acute and chronic liver diseases.  They are dedicated to remaining at the cutting edge of advances in liver disease and participate in national studies to assess the benefits of newer therapies and technologies.

There are a host of diseases which can adversely affect the liver, often causing inflammation in the liver and compromising liver function.  The spectrum of liver disease which we address at EPGI includes:

  • Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease and Nonalcoholic Steatohepatitis
  • Viral Hepatitis including Hepatitis A, B and C
  • Autoimmune Liver Diseases such as Autoimmune Hepatitis, Primary Biliary Cholangitis and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
  • Medication Induced Liver Disease
  • Cirrhosis and its complications including Ascites, Hepatic Encephalopathy and Variceal bleeding
  • Alcohol Associated Liver Disease
  • Hemochromatosis
  • Wilson’s Disease
  • Genetic Liver Diseases
  • Liver Masses or Tumors

In addition to providing state-of-the-art care with specialized techniques, including in-office fibroscans, our Hepatologists maintain a very close relationship with The University of Pennsylvania Liver Transplant team.  University of Pennsylvania transplant physicians see patients in our office allowing for pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplant care to be done locally rather than in Philadelphia.
